lv0-3 Carrot Broth (water crystal + san d'orian carrotsX4)
In san d'oria there is a woman that sells carrots for cheap, or if you are in windy buy them from the guild. You should just sell it back to the vendor because it sells so painfully slow at AH.

lv3-11 Sliced Sardine (wind crystal + bastore sardine)
This one will take awhile to get to lv11 but you can bank even if you sell them back to fishermans guild. Again not an AH seller.

lv11-16 Selbina Butter (ice crystal + rock salt + selbina milk)
This will be the first of many times where you are going to lose money. You lose money because you need these for the next one so DO NOT SELL THEM.

lv16-23 Baked Popoto (fire crystal + popoto + selbina butter)
You can get popoto's cheap from a vendor in windurst waters. You can try to make some of your money back by selling them to guild ,but you will still lose some money.

lv23-29 Pet Food Gamma (earth crystal + horo flour + dhamel meat + distilled water + bird egg)
This was recomended because its ingredients are very cheap to get. Also this is one of the super rare ones where you can accually get a profit just by selling them to the vendor ,this of course is if you farm the dhamel meat...Horo flour is the hardest to get cause it is only bought in juneo.

OR lv24-30 Pineapple Juice (water crystal + kazham pineappleX2)
Really cheap ,and good for mages.

lv29-32 Black Bread (fire crystal + rye flour + rock salt + distilled water)
Ok this is another cheap item and it is another item that you take a small loss on. We will be getting to profitable items in awhile.

lv32-39 Pet Food Delta (earth crystal + land crab meat + bird egg + rye flour + distilled water)
Much like gamma except a little more expensive. Just keep at it till lv 39 where we will begin the 40's a.k.a. hell.

lv 39-42 Pie Dough (water crystal + rock salt + san d'orian flour + selbina butter)
Just like selbina butter DO NOT SELL THESE. You'll be useing the butter anyway so you can remember that way.

lv42-50 Apple Pie (fire crystal + bird egg + farrie apple + cinnamon + maple sugar + pie dough)
Do not expect to make money off these. O and for the first few levels of making these use lizard eggs instead of bird eggs.

lv50-55 Beaugreen Sautee (fire crystal + batagreens + selbina butter)
Only one thing for these, they sell like chinesse food at six flags. Only sell to npc's

lv55-61 Stone Cheese (dark crystal + selbina milk + rock salt)
From 55 on, be prepared to make a lot of crap no one buys, or buys too slowly to even consider AH'ing. In addition, your skill up rate will almost cut itself in half at this point. Believe me, it only gets slower and slower. Be prepared to gain maybe .2 or .3 from one stack of ingredients if you're LUCKY. Your first stop will be at Stone Cheese. Same recipe as Selbina Butter cept you use dark crystals. Those are the only real expense you have to deal with here, and just sell the cheese to the NPC to make back some of that money. You will be losing money from here on, for a long time.

OR lv55-59 Spicy Crackers (fire crystal + rock salt + distilled water + tarutaru rice + kazham pepper)
You can make Spicy Crackers which cap at 59 if you want to get a higher level before taking on the cheese. I did this for two levels, but it's relatively the same cost/sellback rate. Either way you decide to go, you still will need to do the cheese till 61.

lv61-68 Colored Egg (fire crystal + distilled water + la thine cabbage + san d'orian carrot + lizard egg)
Another crap item that will lose you money, but easy to make. This will actually take you to 68 if you use bird eggs, but use lizard eggs once again for the first 2 levels. I personally got sick of making these before I hit the skill cap, but what you do is your business. I'd suggest sticking it out, I was impatient and lost a lot of money doing it my way... which was skipping right ahead to:

lv70-73 Rarab Meatball (fire crystal + san d'orian flour + stone cheese + black pepper + mhaura garlic + rock salt + distilled water + bird egg + hare meat)
Rarab meatballs held me over till 73, but I started to realize the skill ups almost cut themselves into an even smaller fraction. .1 becomes a rarity here, and you're lucky if you get a skill up once in a full stack of ingredients. Of course the moon phase makes a difference, but on normal days... you'll be extremely relieved to see a skill up. Take these to 73 because next you're doing chocomilk. Sell to NPC.

lv73-77 Chocomilk (fire crystal + distilled water + honey + maple sugar + selbina milk + kukuru beanX4)
This recipe will grate on your nerves, so alternatively you can take the meatball recipe to 75 (that's the skill cap) if you like. But the skill ups seemed to come faster with chocomilk for some reason. There's just a LOT of ingredients to get, and some can be expensive if you don't know where to find them. I did this till 77, then got fed up with getting the ingredients and skipped ahead to what was probably the last real expensive recipe...

lv77-80 Chamomile Tea (fire crystal + chamomileX2 + honey + distilled water)
This is it, folks. The end of your pain in levelling Cooking...or so it seems. This is a really easy recipe to put together, and you'll be able to get those ingreds so fast your skill ups will likewise seem to go up faster. I stuck with this till 80. Even though the cost was marginally the same as chocomilk, despite the deceptively small recipe list.

lv80-84 Pumpkin Pie (fire crystal + maple suger + cinnamon + selbina butter + distilled water + bird egg + selbina milk + pie dough + oger pumpkin)
From here on out, you're pretty much safe profit-wise. You're going to make pumpkin pies, which...while they have a large recipe list, are relatively cheap to make, and you'll make very decent profit off selling them. You will end up with a large stock, like the apple pies, but these will actually make you noticeable money in the meantime. I recommend sticking with this recipe for a steady flow of money until 84, as well as a great item for yourself if you're a BLM. These sell like hotcakes in Jeuno wink.gif...but due to the spacing between skill ups (yep, yet another gimping of the skill up rate) you'll end up with well many if not more than you did with apple pies.

lv84-88 Rolanberry Pie (fire crystal + pie dough + san d'orian flour + maple sugar + gelatin + rolanberry + selbina milk + bird egg)
Rolanberry pies dont stack, but aren't too expensive to make. Expect to sell these back to the AH though, since they do sell and you'll make some sort of small profit off them, but very slowly. People buy them in bunches but sparingly because of their no stackiness...however they are the most EXCELLENT pie for mages...the kind of item you'd use for BCNMs or difficult missions. You can keep 'em and use 'em or sell 'em for about 1k each. Either way, selling will be slower than the pumpkins, but they will sell. Ah... okay so this is once again, the last relief you'll have in cooking... from here on out every recipe you can make to level either sells slowly, or is hard to find ingredients for, and costs a lot to prepare. If you've come this far, however, you must have the guts to continue...or else you've just been wasting your time!

lv88-94 Tonosama Rice Balls (fire crystal + distilled water + flint caviar + rock salt + pantam kelp + tarutaru rice)
I like this recipe in many ways... one...it's probably the CHEAPEST 90+ recipe you can possibly make, and the rice balls sell pretty well to SAM players with AF armor. This is where I'm at right now, and slowly grinding them out any chance I get. Why slowly? Here's why: Emporer Fish. This is where this recipe starts...1 Fish will make 2 stacks of rice balls if you don't break any synths. The other thing is 1 fish costs 6k on my server...and they are rarely seen on the AH. So you have to be patient now and wait for them to show before you can go any furthur. Anyway...from buying the fish, you're going to split it into Emporer Roe (you'll get about 4 Emporer Roe from the fish) using a lightning crystal. By this time you should have no prob doing this since Emporer Roe is a lvl 82 synth. Now here's the best part. Dark Crystal + Emporer Roe + Rock Salt makes 3 Flint Caviar, the next part of the recipe you need. The caviar will give you skill ups till 91, so you actually get double the levelling ability out of this recipe, since dark crystal recipes seem to level you faster. Finally, the lvl 94 rice balls are next, which you make with the caviar, and you should have enough of the caviar to make 12 synths, or 2 stacks. You'll gain sizeable skill ups till 91 with this recipe, and you can sell the rice balls to high level SAM players for at least a break even expenditure if you didn't break anything. This will take a small while but you can do it. This whole combo will get you to 95...and from there...

lv94-99 Sweet Rice Cake (fire crystal + distilled water + freash mugwart + gardenia seed + sticky rice + cinnamon + maple sugar)
Okay after finally starting to try and gather information about the incredibly elusive ingredients in this recipe, I decided to update this part of the guide as well. This will be a difficult and trying time for the wannabe lvl 100 cook. However I know many JP players who are 99.x and nearing that golden peak, or who have already reached it. The ingredients for everything lvl 94 and up consist of items that are rare to find or very expensive, and most cannot be bought or found commonly -anywhere-. Some require gardening and others require other non-crafting tradeskills to be used. Ones you never thought you'd probably be using. This recipe is difficult mainly because the ingredients will cost upwards of 4k a stack PER ingredient...and theres several that are like this. For one, Sticky Rice, you will need to be a member of the Tenshodo, and the shop sells this for a not-too-hefty price. Gardenia Seed can be bought in Norg for about 300'ish a piece. Now here's the killer... Fresh Mugwort. It's under Alchemy in the AH and sells close to 70k a stack OxO));; ...however you can also harvest this on the road from west sarutabaruta through giddeus apparently...so if you want to save tons of money I'd invest in some fielding gear, sickles, and start harvesting tons of this stuff. Theoretically it would cost several millions of gil to get to 99 if you bought stacks of mugwort at that price. Now I also don't know how commonly this can be harvested but I know it CAN be...I will be stopping by windurst tonight to try it myself (it is May 16th).

OR lv95-96 Brain Stew (fire crystal + san d'oria four + crying mustard + apple vinigar + gelatin + honey + king truffle + yellow globe + distilled water)
You should probably think about doing this one before sweet rice cake... mainly since King Truffles aren't going to be quite as expensive as the mugwort, and are more available in most cases. This will take you to 96 and from there you can probably more easily do the rice cakes. Thanks to Skaar for this idea!

lv99-100 Cursed Soup (water crystal + royal jelley + honey + kitron + persikos + distilled water)
The recipe calls for several difficult to obtain items...or items that are extremely expensive. One of the most bitchy of the items would have to be that jelly... Kitron: a lemon that goes for about 6k a piece on the AH and can only be gardened. I don't know the gardening recipe for this though. I'd expect it was using fruit seeds though.Persikos: Also one of the "legendary fruits", grown like Kitron and expensive just the same. Royal Jelly: Rare/EX drop off bees in the crawler's nest. Yep...that means you farm it or you don't get it...and only one per run through the nest, so you get one, you gotta craft it right there on the spot or you can't get more. Have fun! The rest are distilled water and honey, and uses a water crystal oddly enough. Where you will make your money back from making these I have NO CLUE, but I see bowls of them selling for a lot... but how fast they sell is beyond me. Since it is "cursed" it obviously requires the rare and elusive abjuration to uncurse it, so it probably does not sell fast in the least. However this is the last level to reach the golden throne of cooking status... how you get there is up to you of course, there may be other ways to go about it, but they are all equally as difficult to find ingredients for. I also heard from other JP cooks that the lvl 100 recipe(s) will always break unless you are lvl 99 when you craft them. So be warned.

Amazing Guide happy.gif.

Is it profitable to take cooking any further? Is it possible to make more money by taking it past 60?

Most definatly. However just taking it to 60 lets you make most of the popular foods like:

Boiled Crab
Mithkabobs
Apple Pies
All the juices.
And most of the ingredients used in some high level cooking.

I'm personally only taking it to 60, as that will allow me to make everything I'll ever need myself.

Cooking is profitable only if you find most of your ingredients rather than buy them on the AH. If you purchase your ingredients from the AH, you will lose money over time.

Meat mithkabobs are also profitable in the fact that if you hunt for your own meat, you don't need to spend 16-20K per stack of cockatrice meat and you saved yourself 1.5-1.8K worth

i made quite a bit of money diverting from making pineapple juice / pet food in the late 20's..

i took boiled crab (FIRE: Bay Leaves, Rock Salt , Land Crab Meat , Distilled Water) from 24ish to 26. quick skill gains, and they move fairly quickly in jeuno.

then insect paste from 26 to 28. (EARTH: Millioncorn , Little Worm , Distilled Water). this is huge profit. 3gil for a worm, 43gil iirc from the grocery shop in sandy.. and 11 gil for water.. earth crystals are so easy to farm around sandy, and bazaar them in port sandoria overnight and they should be gone.

next, trout balls.. (EARTH: Shining Trout , Rye Flour, Distilled Water) these dont move so well (still trying to get rid of them all) and its a money loss selling to the vender. but simple recipe. take it to 32

now, mithkabobs.. i knwo they are very pricy, but good profit if you farm the meat. (FIRE: Kazham Peppers , Cockatrice Meat , Mhaura Garlic , Wild Onion) currently im at 37 doing these... the kabobs can move fairly well depending where you sell em. BTW: i grow the wild onions, saves a tonne of money. vegetable seeds + lightning crystal

pie dough is next for me. it pretty well gets back on track with the guide at that point.

Not entirely true. You can get Horo Flour from a region vendor, just dont remember the region, but theres on in N San by the fountain that sells Horo Flour if Sandy has the region he sells from.

Hmmm not sure about cooking so far i've not taken it too far but for 4-10 aren't you better off making Orange Juice from {Water Crystal -> 4 Saruta Oranges} O.o and one more thing is it really cost effective to make selbina butter at lvl11 seeing as it's a lvl20 craft

umm..you have a mistake. Beaugreen sautee uses beaugreens not batagreens. BataGreen sautee will only get you to 52, and it is a very slow skillup rate if you start at 50, pathetically slow, even if you face the best direction for skillups. CHange this before more people waste their time
