lv0-2 Grass Thread (wind crystal + yagudo necklace)

Save all the Grass Threads you make. You'll be using them up fast soon. Also try to farm the necklaces if you can (it's pretty easy too).

lv2-4 Grass Cloth (earth crystal + grass threadX3)
You'll want to save these to use for cheaper recipes.

lv4-11 Hachimaki (wind crystal + grass clothX2)
Sell these off to the NPC or if you don't mind taking it slower, on the AH. If you farmed the materials, you'll be able to make a little profit by selling to NPC and more selling on the AH.

OR lv10-11 Cotton Thread (lightning crystal + saruta cotton)
OR lv11-12 Cotton Cloth (earth crystal + cotton threadX3
This is the method I took but you WILL lose gil with this method. The only thing i'll have to say about this one is that it'll give you more skill gains (some recipes just give skill better for some reason).

lv11-19 Linen Threads (lightning crystal + flax flowerX2)
Although the skill for these cap at 19, I only recommend making this until 12 or 13. Use the next recipe down for best results.

lv12-22 Yagudo Fletchings(wind crystal + yagudo feather)
Skills gains are fast, the recipe is cheap and heck, you can even farm the materials easily. And to top it all off, you can sell them on the AH for profit at a pretty decent rate as well.

lv22-30 Fly Lure (animal Glue + chocobo feather + bat fang)
This will need a level 8 Bonecrafting support but is well worth it. This is the cheapest recipe at this point and farming Bone Chips to raise Bonecrafting to 6 or 8 isn't all that hard. You can actually get up to skill 8 in Bonecrafting itself with this recipe, but expect a LOT of failures if the support isn't ready.

ORSoil Hachimaki (wind crystal + linen cloth2)
This is more expensive since Linen Cloths go for 1-2k each. The sell rate of this is VERY slow and you lose out on a LOT of gil with this recipe. So only use this if you're going only for skill and already have a lot of gil to spare.

lv30-35 Wool Threads (lightning crystal + sheep woolX2)
This is a rather profitable stage since Wool Threads are used in making most of the Mantles in Leathercrafting. Although you can sell these and make profit, I highly recommend you save any Wool Threads you make until around skill 34 or so. You'll use them in the next recipe.

lv35-37 Wool Cloths (earth crystal + wool threadX3)
You can sell these off now for profit. Depending on the server, there might be more profit selling them in Thread format instead of Cloth. The Cloths sell faster though (especially in Jeuno) since it's used in the Gobbie Bag quests. They also sell quite well in San d'Oria (used to make Power Bows by Woodworkers).

lv37-42 Bird Fletchings (wind crystal + bird featherX2)
Depending on the server, you might be able to sell them for profit on the AH (San d'Oria or Jeuno for best results). However, since they're not as easy to come by as Yagudo Feathers or other materials, the prices of these might be higher. If so, you might want to try the Alternate recipe.

OR lv37-42 Hemp Gorgets (earth crystal + grass threadX8 )
This actually caps at 43 and might be easier to make then Bird Fletchings. Even more so since you should be able to HQ while making Grass Threads out of Yagudo Necklaces with relative ease.

lv42-52 Insect Fletchings (wind crystal + insect wing)
Yup...more fletchings. Same as the other Fletchings pretty much. These are slightly more expensive then Yagudo Feathers but should be cheaper then Bird Feathers since a lot of different monster drop these.

Note: Read next recipe + comment before capping these.

lv52-53 Silk Cloth (earth crystal + silk threadX3)
I recommend you start on this recipe a bit early if possible (perhaps around skill 48-50). You'll be needing a LOT of these soon. So it's a better idea to start making the cloths at an earlier stage.

lv53-60 Green Ribbon (wind crystal + silk cloth)
This will be a huge money sink as the Silk Cloths (even threads) will usually cost more then the Ribbon. Sell them off to the NPC or try to desynth them (not sure if it works) to try to get back most of your gil from this recipe. I've looked for alternatives, but they all sell slowly or for a bigger loss to NPCs. These will actually cap at skill 62 by the way.

its not cheap but not expensive,
I've made profit off of it because well i'm cheap and I farm most of my materials.

Something to look out for:
Flax flower -> Linen Thread -> Linen Cloth can be extremly profitable

Flax is sold by the country that is in first place by conquest on the other side of the airship.
Its sold dirt cheap, if you do your subcombines from flax to linen and then to cloth you can make (depending on your server) quite a profit.

Also, when you get to the wool stage, I highly highly highly suggest you stop what you're doing and start farming sheep in la'thine for sheepskins. Synth them to wool (leathercrafting level 0) and then to wool thread -> wool thread to wool cloth.

With this example above you're only spending money on crystals, also the wool is usually pretty cheap in town as well as the sheepskins bought directly off the AH.

Silk is where it starts getting expensive. And you can take this a few different ways, one is the crawler cacoon route: Buying them whenver you find them (guild has them but sell out rather quickly) of buy off AH, going price on Asura is 1k a cacoon, and the guild sells for 870 so still not that expensive of a synth.

This can take some serious time because the skill up you get will take you to 50 with this and then synthing the thread to cloth; the cloth to green ribbons.

Again though if you take it slow and watch the market, this can be really really profitable as well, being that silk cloth sells for 22k a piece.

870x2 = 1740 (1 silk thread)
3 silk threads = 5220
1 silk cloth = 15660

so its still a profit and a decent one if you're cranking these out Silk Cloth stacks sell for 210k Asura and they are used, a lot for lots of upper level synths.

****Disclaimer****

I personally used Aurik's guide to level my cloth craft and I pretty much took what he had to say and modified it to fit my ways of leveling the craft. This has been a great profit for me, but then again I pay attention to the market, and the AH while I'm skilling and crafting.
