Hey everyone; resident forum troll here I decided a few weeks ago to start goldsmithing and planned out a route to take me to 50 as fast as possible. It's changed a little from planning and actually doing it, and the following is how i skilled 1-50 in goldsmithing in 6 days, and 1.3 million gil spent.

This isn't a guide to how to make money on goldsmithing, in fact it's just the opposite, you will lose a fair amount of gil, but after looking through all the recipe's myself this is the best route i could come up with. Now if anyone wants to point any flaws out in my route then feel free to; it's too late for me but it won't be too late for a newer person to learn from your critique of what i wrote.

Basically 0-50 GS is broken down to a few stages, this is how i look at it:

stage 1(0-13): brass
stage 2(13-35): silver
stage 3(35-41): Myhtril
stage 4(41-48or49): silver again
stage 5(48-50): gold

Stage 1: brass brass brass, what a pain in the arse

0-8 brass ingot ( 1x zinc + 3x copper + Fire crystal )

8-11 Brass Sheet ( 1x brass ingot + fire crystal )

11-13 brass Scales ( 1x Brass sheet + Wind crystal )

Summary of stage 1
This stage is pretty cheap, i only lost about 20-30k, but turning the sheets into scales will net you a huge loss,percentage wise; it's not really that much gil considering what you will be spending later. If you want to at 11 you can sell your brass sheets and attempt silver ingots there, or look at other synths to get you to 13. I simply bit the bullet, took the loss and made the scales since i already had brass sheets on hand. I sold the scales to NPC after i had them on AH undercut by 500g and they got returned to my mog house.

When you start run around bastok markets checking bazaars and get zinc ore that way, usually people have it for cheap there; i picked up about 40 zinc ores, grabbed 6 stacks of fire crystals, advanced synth support, then headed to port bastok airship dock. Buy copper ores there, i was getting them for 11g per. Just buy 3, do a synth, rince and repeat until out of zinc ore. Then just go back to bastok markets and browse bazaars, if you can't find any zinc then resort to AH.

Stage 2: Silver; there is no spoon

13-18 silver ingot ( 4x silver beastcoin + fire crystal )

18-20 silver ingot ( 4x silver ore + fire crystal )
otional: 18-20 make elemental ore into the elemental gems used for making rings at 31-35 range but the point of this stage is to get as many silver ingots as possible since you'll be using them off and on until level 48 goldsmithing)

20-27 silver hairpin ( 1x silver ingot + Wind crystal )
27 Desynth silver hairpins and use whatever ingots you get in next step:

27-31 silver rings ( 2x silver ingot + Fire crystal )

31-35 jeweled ring ( 1x Silver ring + 1x level 1 gem + earth crystal )


Summary Stage 2
note 1: when you run out of silver rings that you made yourself head to jeuno to buy a bunch at the jewel shop. Located in lower jeuno just past the AH. These will be cheaper than making them yourself.

note 2:@35, or whenever you start to run out of space begin desynthing the rings to get silver ingots back. AH the left over silver ingots or save them for silver bangles at the 41-49 range if you want to.

I did this stage during a new moon on lightningday through to darkday, i believe it was around 3.5 hours total. When i started to desynth the rings i was around 33.8 and i failed alot. I was hoping since new moon and lightsday when i got to the rings i may pump out 1 or 2 balance rings(i was doing mainly amethysts) but i didn't have any luck. All in all after 13-35 i ended up with about 4.5 stacks of silver ingots which i put in mog house for silver bangles, and a loss of about 320-330k

Stage 3: Myhtril, just think you can help frodo live through a spear someday

35-38 Mythril Ingot ( 4x Mythril beastcoin + Fire crystal )

38-41 Mythril Sheet ( 1x Mythril ingot + fire crystal )

Summary Stage 3
This all in all was a pretty cheap run, i only lost approx 90-100k going 35-41 bringing my total losses to about 450k. Not bad considering i was expecting approx. 700k loss by now.. what really hurts is the next part, 41-48 cost me nearly as more than 0-41

Stage 4: Silver, still no spoon.. but we've got bangles!

41-48 Silver bangles ( 3x Silver ingot + fire crystal )

Summary Stage 4
This stage is pretty strait forward; These can go to 49 but i stopped at 48 and desynthed them all. Similar to the silver hairpin stage.. except i had very bad luck desynthing and lost alot of bangles. This stage netted me approx between 500-600k loss.. i tried not to look

Stage 5: Gold Surprisingly not bad

48-50 gold ingot ( 4x gold beastcoin + fire crystal )

Summary Stage5
for 48-50 i made 2 stacks of gold ingots and put them on AH this morning, all in all i only lost about 8 gold beastcoins in the whole time it took me to get the last 2 skill points for 50. I only lost about 30k at this part, after my 2 stacks of gold ingots sell on AH.

all in all this took me less than a week, i started synthing for goldsmithing last tuesday, and today(monday morning the following week) i'm level 50. I have no current plans to go past level 50 so my guide stops here.

and just fyi total costs from 1-50 GS i lost about 1.3 million gil after resells, at current fairy server prices. During the past week fire crystal prices have inflated on fairy from 2k when i started last monday to a steady 3k now, with no signs of dropping. i hope this helps whoever reads it

You can make Brass Hairpins from 11-16. It uses a brass ingot + wind crystal and you sell them back to the NPC to save some gil. And starting Silver Ingots at 16 is cheaper then starting them at 13:p

From 20-27, you can also make Silver Arrowheads. This is only suggested if you plan to raise woodworking up a bit as well since selling off Silver Arrows will save more money then failing Silver Hairpins. I mixed to get through the silver arrow part of woodworking then made hairpins the rest of the way.

Also you might want to save any mythril sheets you make. Making Mythril Cuisses is less costly then making Gold Ingots on most servers. Especially since both sell at a loss for the most part.

My goldsmithing is only 35 and the main reason i'm not keeping track is because I really don't want to freak out at what i'll lose investing in this craft:p I already know that i'll be losing a LOT from 0-60...I don't want to cry at all the other stuff I could've bought with the money that went into this if possible >.>

i did the silver ingots because i knew i'd be using them all the way through to 48, better to milk every skill point i can out of them before i get 20+.

also i lost very little gil on gold ingots, just the cost of crystals. I had to sell them individually though on jeuno AH, and they sell fairly fast.. i was just getting gold to 50 for 2 reasons.

1) i needed GS to 50 for when i eventually get smithing to up
2) GS glasses!
