1) If you're a rng you can make your own arrows.
2) Make money selling arrows
3) ***FIXING LU SHANGS FISHING ROD*** (this is the main reason)
4) Be able to make high level items such as the much sort after staves like ice
and dark staff.

So here's what i've done and how much i've roughly spent.

Guild North Sandoria E-3
Guild shop 6-21 closed on Firesday (holiday)

Here's a tip. Know your regional vendors. Sometimes materials are scarce and
can only be bought from regional vendors. There's a list floating in
RPGexpert.com somewhere and you should use it to your advantage if you want to
save money.

On with the guide.

0-2 Arrowwood Lumber (Wind crystal + Arrowwood Log)
The logs are cheap and can be bought from the NPC above the woodworking guild
in North Sandoria. **Save these as you will need these for arrows later on.

2-5 Maple Lumber (Wind crystal + Maple Log)
These logs again are cheap (59g in bastok mines H-7 when regional control). I
just sold these back to the AH or NPC or you can keep 4 lumbers for your rank 2
test at level 18-20.

5-8 Ash Lumber (Wind crystal + Ash Log)
These logs are cheap also. Keep these as you will need these for the first set
of arrows you will be making later.

Now is the time to go take your first exam with the person you signed up for
the guild. He will ask you to make him a Workbench. This can be bought in AH or
made (Earth + 4x Lauan Lumber)

8-13 Willow Lumber (Wind Crystal + Willow log)
I just sold the lumber back on the AH or NPC

13-15 Bamboo Fishing Rod (Wind + Bamboo Stick + Grass thread or Lightning + Bkn
bamboo rod)
These sell fairly well and fast in ah for roughly 500-700gil each. So you'll
break even or make a profit on these.

15-21 Maple Sugar ( Lightning + Maple Log)
These didn't sell too well to cookers or to NPC so i just ate up the costs.
Remember to take your exam at level 18-20. Guild will require you to bring a
maple table (Earth + 4x Maple lumber)

21-29 Silver arrows (Earth + Ash lumber + Yagudo Fletching + Slv. Arrowhead)
Now I chose to do these instead of going iron arrows until 27 because silver
arrows will sell faster on the AH. Make sure you have advanced synthesis
imagery on when doing arrows - especially if you're 5+ level difference. It'll
just make it so you have more successful synths so you don't lose
profitability. If materials like arrowheads become scarce you may want to make
Shihei(29) (a bit pricey but if costs are not a problem they are a good skillup
+ sell fast as these are needed for Ninjas *Wind + black ink + 2xBast
Parchment). Silver arrows sell for around 1500-2000 in AH / 99.

At this point you can go take your next exam and bring the guild a harp (Earth
+ Coeurl Whisky + Chestnut Lumber x 2)

29-39 Beetle Arrows (Earth + Arrowwood lumber + choc. Fletching + Btl arrowhead)
Here's where all the arrowwood you made in your earlier crafting comes in
handy. Again make sure you have imagery. You will fail lots in the first 29-31
levels, but 39 will come really fast. These arrow sell fast for roughly 1000-
1200gil / 99.

Exam: Traveriere (Wind + Oak lumber + Parchment)

39-49 Horn Arrows (Earth + Arrowwood lumber + bird fletching + horn arrowheads)
Again these sell ok in the AH. The only thing i had trouble finding were bird
fletchings, but during JP hours it's usually lots available.

This is a personal route i took to reach me from 0 - 49 in woodworking in 2
days, or roughly 8 hours. Investment spent was roughly 150k and I have about 3
mules full of fishing rods, arrows that i still have to sell. i will post
another higher level guide shortly. If anyone needs to add to this, please post
it on the comments section below.

Thanks,
Nauraki

I did not write this, I just thought I'd post this here and share with everyone since the currently existing guide is completely inaccurate.

Thank you for making this wonderful lvl up guide. But... I would like to know when you lvld youre carpentry and on what server.I am on the Asura server, and it took me 5 days(about 6 hours every day) to get my Wood Working to lvl 51, and I had to spend over 650k just to get it there. I bet you lvled youre carpentry back in the good old days when astral rings went for 100k, and Scorp harness was only 3.5 mil. thanks for the guide. please respond to this. thank you /bow

650k to get wood to 51?

You were doing something wrong then.

Did you resell everything you could?
Did you sell to vendor and take losses?
Did you buy materials from vendor or search for the cheapest prices before acquiring your materials?

650 just sounds to be way too much to get wood to 51. Actually 1-51 should net you profit if done right.

Yeah. I took me atleast 650k to get my wood working to lvl 51. I kinda forgot, or didnt think it was important to put in that I made back roughly 500k from selling quivers or Horn, beetle, and Silver arrows in jeuno at the ah. This guide was really good though. I started doing Bone Craft in windy while I am farming Yag beads for Norg fame. A high lvl crafter of mine said that I should only do one craft on each character. and someone else told me that If I am only going to get into bone crafting so I can make the Beetle, horn, fang, and scorp arrow HEADS that I should just lose a lil gil and buy them from the ah. k i will leave on that. Bye and thanks for the response

Here's the rest:
(rpglove)
This is assuming you have followed a guide or my previous guide on beginner
woodworking up to 49. This is a next chunk of levels for those that are looking
into getting it higher to synth higher level items such as those elemental
staves or to fix lu shangs fishing rod (I believe this is the main reason for
woodworking).

The next chuck of levels will definately require significantly more capital and
skillups are slower - as is any craft.

You should have taken your lvl 48 Journeyman test (rose wand) before proceeding.

49-59 Scorpion Arrows (Earth + Insect.Fletching + Arrowwood Lumber + Scp
Arrowhead)
Make sure you have advanced imagery for the first few levels or you will be
failing a lot. I advise you to sell these in Jeuno as they sell faster and
often sell for more. In Sandoria they were going for 2-2.5k a stack and Jeuno
at 3k a stack - sell in bazaar. Scp Arrowheads can be found more often during
JP hours - these were very limited most of the time.

Take your 58/60 Craftsman exam - (Kaman)

59-61 Chest (Earth + 3x Rattan lumber + 2x Lauan lumber)
The prices were about 2k per stack, and the chests sell for about 500-600 each
and do sell quite steadily. Supply for lumber are also abundant so these levels
should go by pretty quick. Didn't notice too many failures on these either.

61-63 Fix Bkn. Tarutaru Rods (Light + Bkn. Tarutaru rod.)
Now this is where it gets longer and more expensive. The supply of tarutaru
rods can vary. Sometimes there's quite a few in the ah but most times i notice
there's only 1 or 2. The broken ones will run you about 1000G and the good
tarutaru rods will run you about 1200G. DO NOT buy them from the fishing guild.
They will run you about 4000G each. Make sure you buy some white jars and place
it in your mog house for light enhancement. This will make it so when you fail
you are less likely to lose the material. Once you have about 20-35 tarutaru
rods, go and hop on a ferry with meatballs or sliced sardines or sliced
bluetails. The main point now is to break the fishing rods so you can fix them
later. Meatballs are a slower break but give more fishing skillups if you're
50+ in fishing, otherwise the sliced bait will break faster. Once you have all
your broken rods, there's 2 routes you can go. If you're rich, then just fix
the rods on the boat when it docks or if you're concerned about resources you
can warp back to san doria and get imagery first before you start repairing.
Note: Light crystals run about 4000G a stack. So not cheap.

63-69 or 63-73. Depending on how much capital you still have left to invest,
you can go Demon arrows (69) (blk choc. fletching + earth + demon arrowhead +
arrowwood lumber). Do these the same as scp arrows. The demon arrow heads are
really expensive and they don't sell as fast. Also i could NEVER find any demon
arrow heads, but the one i did find sold for a loss due to failures. If you do
go the demon arrow route, you can hit 73 after with the next route which is to
go fix Clothepole fishing rods - same as fixing tarutaru rods. Now these rods
go for about 2k a pop in the AH or 1.9K from fishing guild, so the supply is
there. This will take quite sometime to break and fix, but probably the
cheapest/fastest route out there.

At 68 turn in an Ebony wand for your rank test.

73-80. Here most people like myself raise the skill by fixing the lu shang rod.
Just fix on the boat as it breaks with light crystal. DO NOT FIX the rod after
the "Nearing Mhaura/Selbina" message or before the ferry departs. If you do,
there's a good chance you will lose the fishing rod - and no the GM's will not
reimburse you. Another route for skillup to 77 is to use lighting cystal with
clothepoles to get silk threads. These are fairly cheap and fast as threads
sell quite well.. anywhere.

77/80 - 83 Fix bkn Mithran rods. These sell quite well for a profit, but
prepare to lose a lot of gil on failed synths, so make sure you always have
advanced imagery.

If you do go further with woodworking, good luck. Any higher from here you will
need a few hundred thousand gil to easily a few million. At this point you can
begin crafting those elemental staves for further skillups or to sell on AH.
