Tonight I was farming in the maze. After I cleared out the crawlers and scorps in the room at H-4 I noticed a ??? point by the northern fossil rock.

Examining the ??? point provided me with the following:
"There are tracks left here by some foul creature."

I've tried trading a number of items however no luck. I went outside into the canyon and started killing anything that moves and didn't find anything new or unusual drop (though I dind't spend a large amount of time doing this, i will admit).

Has anyone else seen this ??? point and or know of an item that may be able to pop the NM?

I posted this on Alla as well ans they think that it may be a "Aroma Crawler" which would coincide with the description and location. Continuing with the "Scent" theory...I have not yet tried a piece of rotton meat.

Saw it today as well, resides just outside the zone to Attohwa Chasm, no idea on how to pop it, and I probably wouldnt if I wanted too anyway incase it was one of those nasty bad-ass HNM mobs like the other forced-NM pops we've seen in the last few updates.

OK, I have no clue what the deal is with this, but you certainly grabbed my attention.

I scoured the stupid maze for hours... and found zero sight of this ??? ANYwhere. Are you sure it was not out during some moon phase, or some elemental weather only?

Any clues?

Also, it sounds like the first 2 posters found theirs in different places. I assumed that it has random points, and either moves around on it's own, or once "something" is done to it, so the different servers have different locations because no one has done that something yet.

Don't know what pops it, but I found a new NM listed in the Maze of Shakrami.

maybe try trading some crawler items to it, prehaps a calculus or silk thread(or cloth,) smooth stone, meteor, something to that extent.. maybe crawler eggs too.

Ok. Well here's a quick update on this thingie.

I've traded a number of things to the spot 2 nights ago include just about anythign and everything that drop from non-goblin mobs in the starting rooms of the Maze (silk, bat wings, fangs, bone chips, pickaxes, scorp drops, etc).

Last night I returned to try and figure it out some more...the ??? spot wasn't there. I scoured all of the maze and only found the ??? spot associated with Eco-Warrior.

This morning I looked again and it wasn't there.

Quick recap of times:
Spawned on Titan Aug 1st about 7:30PM EST.
Was still present at 6:30AM the next morning.
Wasn't there that evening nor the morning of Aug. 3rd.

Driving to work I started to think about this. When I found it I was farming Crawlers and Scorps in the room ((H-4) of the 2nd map). After about 30 minutes for farming, it popped in front of the northern most Fossil Rock (room and connecting hallways were empty except for the 1-2 combats).

When I get home tonight, I'm going to farm the room again and see if the ??? spot pops after the room is cleared after so many times. Once it appears I'm going to wait until the room is full and examine the spot. (Popping a NM crawler in a room full of other crawlers sounds fun).

If anyone wants to try my theory about how to make the ??? spot appear (more or less to confirm that I'm not nutz) would be greatly appreciated.

Yes there is however those have been tied to other NM pops. I'm not discounting the possibility that they can be used here as well; however, it is unlikely. Also of the new items I think Fresh Blood is the only one that is not obtained from a CoP area. If it is used for this, then we may be looking at a total of 4 NMs (theoretically speaking) popped by that 1 item (Chocoboleech, Aroma Crawler, Aroma Leech, Aroma Fly). That is assuming that this is Aroma Crawler (not confirmed yet) and also assuming that it would pop the others as well.

One thing that was mentioned that I was going to try last night was Dhamel Saliva. I'm going to try to use this (and maybe a bloody robe) once I figure out how to make the ??? appear again.

Yes but saying that an item is used for only 1 thing is not true since many rare/ex items are used for both quests and synthing (metorite and Yuhtunga sulfer come to mind).

The saliva and robe (along wth the tail) are used for the Mhaura SJ quest however it is possible that they may be used to pop a NM that doesn't really give any hint on how to pop it. I'm not really thinking that it will work, but they are one of the few items of the area that I haven't tried to use yet.

I am curious if you tried trading a single or a stack of each item that you tested?

There are mobs, like the habetrot, that spawn off of a stack of items, instead of a single.

I only tested single. I also everything I traded I have kept (so random stuff isn't taken like the Goblin Archeologist).

have you tried slime oil or a stack of slime oils Foul Creature think about what type of Foul creature it could be

basically reason i'm saying is just like in habetrot it states that vegetable clippings are all over the floor kkthx

Actually, at habetrot, it says that 'something has been gnawing at the roots' and it was a great mystery to me how someone figured out that related to La Thiene Cabbages, and stacks of it, for that matter.

Just a quick update based on my experience last night and this morning.

Last night I was killing as many crawlers and Scorps that I could in the 2hrs of playtime that I had available. After that time, no ??? point spawned. On my way out more people were showing up to farm silk in the room I was in.

This morning I check the crawler/scorp room as well as the area by Attowah Chasm (which a few people between here and Alla have mentioned seeing A ??? point around there) and there was no spot to be found.

I may try tonight one more time before calling it quits until next week. When the ??? was discovered it was while myself and some LS mates were killing just about anything that moved in the area. Last night I concentrated solely on crawlers and scorps. If I try to kill the jellies and bats, it may appear (assuming my theory about a ??? point being a lottery pop). If it doesn't show up I'm going to wait on this until Monday evening and see if it pops again.

In the meantime I am also goign to head to Gusgen and Ordelle's and try to find a room dominated by Flies and leeches (respectively). The speculation that this spot in the Maze is the Aroma Crawler is interesting since I found the point in a room dominated by Crawlers. If it is that NM, I would be interested to try to find a similar point in Gusgen or Ordelle's in rooms dominated by their creatures.

Perhaps the item you need to trade to ??? have nothing do with the drops in Maze. Maybe it's synthesis?

I don't know if this is related but while walking through the maze out of boredom i found a ??? i had never seen before. It was in front of one of those little huts where wights reside and it said something to the extent of "A monster was recently killed here" or "There are bones with meat still attached."

Does that seem new to anyone or am i just overlooking an old quest?

I believe what you found was the ??? spot that is used for the Windy Eco-Warrior quest. It's been a while since I've checked one w/o doing the quest but i reall something to that extent being said when examined.
